We have just had a successful presence at the Celebrate Life Festival.We did quite well with the titles of the three authors who had speaking slots, namely Jimmy Henderson, Lyndel Daly, and Belinda Joubert. The other titles didn't sell, so the proof is out there that public speaking does help your profile and credibility in the eyes of the public.
This week Nadine and I also hosted an informal Café of Conversations at our Wisdom Cave Library for four authors and other interested parties. A stimulating time was had by all with some positive ideas as to how to promote the books and authors emerging. Through a connection of Jimmy's our authors can now be promoted in the Durban area. Ralph Shepherd suggested a Book Breakfast Club to be hosted at Novalis once a month.

Publication date is set for the end of June. Chris has a private practice in Johannesburg and offers workshops on Cheirology.

We welcome Mark Lockwood to the Kima Global family of authors. Mark's book Auto Therapy addresses the huge number of people out there who would like psychological counseling but don't do it because of the costs involved. We hope to have the book in print by early July.
Mark is also based in Johannesburg and is involved in an on line counseling group and other activities.

 Each author can now have their own web page. When you use the search facility on the top of most pages and type your title or your name, you should land onto your book page. There you find the link to your own author page. The idea is that you yourself will be able to add content, articles and your Events Schedule on your notice board, or include any other newsworthy item you would like your readers to know about. We encourage you to take the trouble to do this as it will help your online presence.
Even if you have your own web site, it will still make a difference.
Nadine May is at the top of the list on Google because of the articles she has posted. (try typing Nadine May on the Google search). You can do the same. It is easy to do this because it has been virtually automated. There is no need for you to know html code or Dreamweaver; it is just matter of filling in a form.

With regret I had to let it go (after 8 years) It is still printed on all our stationary, but according to the people at intekom I don't exist anymore? For no reason they suddenly have discontinued the .com address. There is no point going against the reasoning of call center staff, since they only tell you what has been written down for them.
One good thing came out of it, I have at least 100 emails per day less in my inbox! So, more time for other work.

We are pleased to see that Amazon's electronic reader the Kindle has taken off to such an extent that they cannot keep up with demand. There is also a Sony Reader. Just think of it, not walls of books, just one 'book' with 500 books in it that you can read by the fireside, take on a train or a plane, read in bed; all the usual places. It is also searchable for the ideas held in the books. How wonderful! We will in due course convert all our own titles to e-books including yours. The price of e-books will definitely come down, but then the challenge will be to get noticed in the flood of new offerings. Last year alone in the USA more than 90 000 new titles were taken into print, most of which had print runs of less than 300. In these terms sales of even 1000 would make a best seller. It all comes down to the marketing! | |

We had a busy time at the recent Celebrate Life Festival. After each lecture there would be a sudden rush of interest and sales. On line marketing is increasingly important but public shows like this one do show a 'face' to the public. |
