| Is raised self-awareness good for you? |

Research has shown that a raised self-awareness (consciousness)
can intensify certain emotions and can be a real problem
if one is prone to depression, or carrying the pain
or guilt of unresolved past failures and shortcomings.
For this reason the process of the development of
M-D thinking first strives to bring about a state
of emotional wellness. In addition to this, existential
psychologists believe that the 'freedom' of a raised
consciousness can actually produce anxiety and a sense
of insecurity due to an increased understanding of
one's personal responsibility and role in the universe.
